A 24-year-old girl tells her story of conversion to Islam. Initially she never thought about wearing the hijab, but when she started wearing it to go to the mosque, she felt more beautiful and at inner peace. She then decided to wear it consistently, even though she was initially worried about being looked at differently. Ultimately, she realized that the most important thing is her mental and spiritual well-being, and that when she wears the hijab she represents her religion and should be proud of it.
Salam Aleykum!
It is with great pleasure that I tell you my story.
I'm 24 years old and I converted this year!
Hamdulillah
Everything came naturally, slowly but not too much, but from the bottom of my heart.
Initially I never thought I would want to wear the hijab , but when I started wearing it to go to the mosque I realized that I looked beautiful and it made me feel good, with even more inner peace.
Becoming more aware of its meaning and of the fact that it is a religious obligation for Muslim women, I decided to wear it constantly.
Personally, I was concerned about the possibility of being looked at differently , but in the end , what matters most is our mental and spiritual well-being. When we wear it we represent our religion and we must be proud of this.
It is certainly a strong symbol, especially for the society we live in, but Allah SWT prescribed it to us for more than valid reasons. We need to take the right time to accept it 100% and make sure that Allah SWT makes this choice easier for us. I myself don't put it definitively yet, but I hope soon, Insha'Allah. Let us always remember that this life is a test.
I hope my testimony can reach some girls.
Good continuation of your work, Insha'Allah.
Your testimony might help girls who are considering the idea of wearing the Hijab , offering them an authentic and real point of view. Besides, they might as well promote greater understanding and acceptance within our communities and society at large .
