Ilaria, a 20-year-old Italian girl, born into a Christian family, experienced a period of depression, panic attacks and anxiety. During this period, he began to meditate and become interested in different religions. In particular, she was fascinated by the dedication, tenacity and faith of Muslim women. He then began to find out about Islam and, after a training course, decided to convert. His choice was not easy for his parents, who are practicing Christians, to accept. However, over time, they too began to understand and support his choice. Today Ilaria is called Maryam and lives her new life with joy and determination. She is grateful to Allah for setting her on the right path and giving her a chance to find peace and happiness.
I'm Ilaria, now Maryam, and I'm 20 years old. Years ago I was an atheist, born into an Italian Christian family.
It all started during a dark period when nothing seemed to have meaning anymore . I was locked in the house between depression , panic attacks and anxiety , and the only thing I had available was the phone to detach myself from reality, from the nightmare I was living.
So I started meditating, and it went from there research on every type of religion.
The women with the veil fascinated me, their dedication, their tenacity and their faith.
So I started to find out and contacted an imam in my area. I took a course and decided to convert to Islam on my birthday , specifically last December.
Later I faced many challenges, such as my parents not accepting my choice.
I wore the hijab exactly a little over a month ago. To this day my parents, thank God, are making great strides in understanding and supporting me.
I face jokes and laughter, but I don't get discouraged. Allah has set me on the right path, and I couldn't be happier to have so many sisters ready to support and help me.
Alhamdulillah! 💖💖💖💖
